The three day National Pallottine Youth Encounter held at Casa Pallotti Assagao, Goa from 8th to 10th of May 2014 witnessed the participation of about 180 Young people from all over India
representing the three Indian Provinces. The Meet was inaugurated by Fr. Camilo Simoes , the Provincial of the Assumption Province, who exhorted the Youth to be true witnesses of Jesus accepting
the challenges that the world throws at them. The three day program was an occasion for these spirited Pallottine Youth to have a spiritual, social ,human and
cultural encounter in the warmth of the Goan hospitality extended by the Pallottine Community of Casa Pallotti.
The young and vibrant resource team hailing from Bangalore under the leadership of Br. Collins guided the program challenging the participants for a deeper encounter with Jesus after the model of St. Vincent Pallotti. The event was further marked by a Pilgrimage to Old Goa’s Bom Jesus Basilica where the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier is kept in a silver casket. The special Holy Mass presided over by Fr. George Madeikkal SAC , the National Youth Coordinator of the Pallottines in India and con celebrated by the eleven Pallottine priests who accompanied the youth was the highlight of the pilgrimage.
Visits to the beaches, cultural programs in the evenings and sharing of experiences were all part of the program that was coordinated locally by Fr. Beniz Gomes, the Youth coordinator of the Assumption Province and assisted by other coordinators, Fr. Raksmikant Nayak of Khrist Jyothi and Fr. George Madeikkal of Prabhu Prakash Province. This National event has given a big boost to the efforts of the Pallottines in India to promote Youth Ministry in league with the trends within the Church.
